大學 經文 (대학 경문) 중 古之欲明明德於天下者는 (고지욕명명덕어천하자)

古之欲明明德於天下者는

(고지욕명명덕어천하자)

옛날에 

 천하에 밝은 덕을 

 밝히고자 하는 자는

先治其國하고

(선치기국)

먼저 그 나라를 다스리고

欲治其國者는

(욕치기국자)

그 나라를 

다스리고자 하는 자는

先齊其家하고

(선제기가)

먼저 

그 집안을 가지런히 하고

欲齊其家者는

(욕제기가자)

그 집안을 

가지런히 하고자 하는 자는

先修其身하고

(선수기신)

먼저 그 몸을 닦고

欲修其身者는

(욕수기신자)

그 몸을 닦고자 하는 자는

先正其心하고

(선정기심)

먼저 그 마음을 바르게 하고

欲正其心者는

(욕정기심자)

그 마음을 바르게 하려는 자는

先誠其意하고

(선성기의)

먼저 그 뜻을 성실히 하고

欲誠其意者는

(욕성기의자)

그 뜻을 

성실히 하고자 하는 자는 

先致其知하니

(선치기지)

먼저 

그 지식을 지극히 하였으니

致知는

(치지) 

在格物하니라

(재격물)

지식을 지극히 함은 

사물의 이치를 궁구함에 있다

 

- 大學 經文에서-

古옛고,於어조사어, 欲하고자할욕,

治다스릴치, 齊가지런할제,

修닦을수,誠정성성,

致다할치,이를치,格격식격 ​

The ancients who wished to illustrate illustrious 

virtue throughout the kingdom, first ordered 

well their own States. Wishing to order well 

their States, they first regulated their families. Wishing to regulate 

their families, they first cultivated their persons. Wishing to cultivate 

their persons, they first rectified their hearts. Wishing to rectify their hearts, they first 

sought to be sincere 

in their thoughts. 

Wishing to be sincere 

in their thoughts, they 

first extended to the 

utmost their knowledge. Such extension of knowledge lay in the investigation of things.
